Your Google Business Profile is the little box that shows up when someone searches your name or “near me.” It is free, and it is one of the highest-impact things a local business can fix in an afternoon. Most are half-finished. Here is the plain version of doing it right.
Claim it and verify it
If you have never claimed your profile, start there. Search your business name, look for “Own this business?” and follow the steps. Verification can take a few days, so do it first.
Fill out every field
Empty fields are missed chances. Make sure you have:
- The exact name, address, and phone you use everywhere else
- Your real hours, including holidays
- The categories that actually describe what you do
- A short, plain description of your business
- Photos of real work, your team, and your location
Keep your name, address, and phone identical everywhere
This is called NAP consistency, and it matters more than it sounds. If your phone number is formatted three different ways across the web, you look less trustworthy to both people and search engines. Pick one format and use it everywhere.
Answer questions and reviews
People will ask questions right on your profile. Answer them. Respond to reviews, good and bad, like a calm human. That is the whole game: be findable, be consistent, be responsive.
This is the kind of foundational task we set up for clients in an hour or two. If you would rather have it handled, book a free vibe check.
